Rebecca Oswald - solo piano music

Whereas (2011) is a concept CD of thirteen original solo piano works inspired by poetry. Most of these songs were written while Rebecca was on a compositional sabbatical in Belfast, N.I., in fall 2010 - winter 2011. Whereas was recorded in May 2011 on a Steinway D grand piano at Oktaven Studios in Yonkers, NY.

October Wind (2006) is a retrospective CD of thirteen original piano works dating from 1981 to 2005, and one art song for tenor and piano, featuring special guest artist Peter Hollens. IndieAcoustic selected the song Periwinkle Blue as one of their "Songs of Note 2005." In 2009 the song Regatta was nominated for a 2009 Just Plain Folks Song Award in their Solo Piano category. October Wind was recorded on a Steinway M grand piano at Don Ross Productions in Eugene, Oregon.

Claro de Luna (the "Moonlight Sonata" Tango) (2009) is Rebecca Oswald's adaptation of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" as a dark, bold, energetic tango for solo piano. Claro de Luna was recorded in Eugene, Oregon on a Fazioli grand piano. The recording is available in MP3 format only.

Rebecca Oswald's Sonata no. 1 has been performed numerous times but has not yet been recorded. Over nine minutes long, it is a dramatic, single movement work in sonata allegro form inspired by late 19th and early 20th century romantic and impressionistic piano repertoire.

Rebecca has performed her original solo piano music for audiences throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, England, Northern Ireland, France, the Dominican Republic, and Spain. Since 2008 she has played many collaborative concerts with other solo pianists including David Nevue, Grammy nominee David Lanz, Louis Landon, Neil Patton, Joe Bongiorno, Joseph Akins, David Rhys-Johnson, Mathew Tavis Johnson, Micah Page, and Isadar. In October 2010 Rebecca joined four other composer/pianists, Julio Mazziotti (Argentina), Lisa Downing (U.S.), Mario Lopéz-Santos (Spain), and Grammy nominee Suzanne Ciani (U.S.), in Cala Rajada, Mallorca, Spain, as presenting artists for the First International Gathering of Solo Pianists in Mallorca, Spain (El Primer Encuentro Internacional de Pianistas Solo, Mallorca, España).
