Rebecca Oswald - highlights from 2015 and 2016

Composed and orchestrated Vía Láctea (a new opera in English; over two hours in length). Libretto by award-winning author and poet Ellen Waterston. The three premiere performances in June 2016 at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon were sold out. Presented by OperaBend, directed by Nancy Engebretson; with a world class cast and chorus and a 28-piece orchestra conducted by Michael Gesme.

Performed piano music at the Whisperings All Star Concert and Awards Show, in Costa Mesa, California.

Honorable Mention in The American Prize in Composition (professional division) in chamber music for Theseus and the Minotaur.

Finalist in The American Prize in Composition (professional division) in choral music for various works.

Performed piano music at the UAI conference in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Received a 2015 Individual Artist Fellowship award from the Oregon Arts Commission.

Another performance of In the Gloaming (SATB a cappella public domain song arrangement) by the Linn-Benton Community College Chamber Choir in Albany, Oregon, conducted by Dr. James Reddan, at his farewell concert.

Aesop's Fables EP (woodwind quintet with narrator) was accepted on Pandora and can now be heard in the Children's music category.
